Requirements
- Demonstrated experience building and scaling a dbt project and metrics layer.
- Expert knowledge of dbt and advanced SQL.
- Strong grasp of dimensional modelling, grain, and incremental patterns.
- Proficiency with BigQuery or a similar data warehouse.
- Proficiency with Python.
- Experience with BI tools such as Looker.
- Test, document, and reconcile data models as standard practice.
- Understand varied stakeholder requirements and translate them into generalised, well-documented models.
- Experience modelling billing, subscription, and ARR data, or large-scale product event data, is a bonus.
- Experience serving data to LLM-based agents, building semantic or metrics layers for AI tools, data CI, data contracts, PII policy tags, or infrastructure-as-code for warehouse access is a bonus.
Responsibilities
- Own the transformation layer between raw data and business decisions.
- Model data in dbt and define certified metrics for the company.
- Drive metric-layer standards, including modelling conventions, project structure, testing, CI, and documentation.
- Design and maintain certified KPI models for product, finance, and company-wide topics.
- Partner with Data Engineering on the evolution of the data warehouse architecture.
- Work with stakeholders to turn ambiguous questions into trusted, reusable data products.
- Support data products served through AI agents.
