Requirements

  • Bring 15+ years of progressive engineering experience.
  • Have substantial experience leading managers and senior engineering leaders across multiple teams.
  • Have owned organization-wide engineering strategy, delivery, talent, and investment decisions.
  • Demonstrate architectural judgment across complex applications, distributed systems, cloud infrastructure, and data platforms.
  • Understand how engineering decisions affect revenue, cost, customer experience, and risk.
  • Have a track record of building high-performing organizations and developing managers into stronger leaders.
  • Be able to point to AI tools personally built, workflows redesigned, or experiments run.
  • Balance modernization with delivery, speed with reliability, and ambition with available capacity.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Preferred: experience in fintech, payments, lending, or regulated, transaction-intensive environments.
  • Preferred: familiarity with Go, Node.js, React, AWS, Kubernetes, and native iOS and Android development.
  • Preferred: familiarity with frontier models, coding agents, and production evaluations and guardrails.

Responsibilities

  • Set engineering strategy, investment priorities, and execution plans with the CPTO, Head of Product, and cross-functional leaders.
  • Own engineering delivery, address delivery risks, and align leaders on corrective actions.
  • Partner across business functions to connect technical decisions to growth, customer experience, operating efficiency, and risk.
  • Guide architectural decisions and the evolution of applications, core services, and data platforms.
  • Lead and develop engineering leaders and managers, including hiring, succession planning, and performance management.
  • Strengthen quality, test automation, delivery practices, observability, and operational readiness.
  • Own engineering budget and capacity planning with the CPTO and Finance.
  • Build and experiment with AI tools, and turn useful experiments into repeatable practices with measurable improvements.
  • Partner with business leaders to identify and implement AI, automation, and internal-tool solutions with appropriate safeguards.
