Requirements
- Bring 10+ years of software engineering experience.
- Have 5+ years of experience managing engineers.
- Have 2+ years in a senior engineering leadership role, such as Director or senior-most technical leader.
- Have ideally worked at an early-stage startup or in a fast-moving environment.
- Have owned technical strategy, architecture, and roadmap for a production consumer product.
- Have built or scaled the team that delivered a production consumer product.
- Be comfortable reviewing pull requests, reading code deeply, and responding to incidents.
- Have experience with application security and third-party compliance, including security reviews, vendor questionnaires, and audits.
- Have a track record of cross-department communication and relationships leading to business success.
- Bring practical enthusiasm for AI-assisted development.
- Know TypeScript, Next.js, Node, GraphQL, Postgres, and AWS.
Responsibilities
- Set technical strategy, make architectural decisions, and own the engineering roadmap.
- Lead engineering delivery, including release management, deployment, CI/CD, release cadence, rollbacks, and production stability.
- Manage security reviews, vendor and carrier questionnaires, and audits.
- Prioritize technical debt and refactoring alongside feature delivery.
- Establish QA and testing processes, automated coverage, manual QA, and release quality standards.
- Manage on-call rotations, escalation paths, incident response, and postmortems.
- Develop engineers through 1:1s and performance feedback, and hire and onboard new team members.
- Evaluate internal software and manage engineering tooling, infrastructure spending, and cloud costs.
- Own and evolve AI policies and practices, and lead the rollout of AI usage across the company.
- Partner with product, design, partnerships, legal, and data teams on priorities, integrations, and delivery.
