Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
- 9+ years of progressive experience in software engineering, application development, platform engineering, data engineering, or a related technology field.
- At least 3 years of formal people-management experience leading software engineering teams.
- Experience delivering and operating business-critical technology products or platforms in complex enterprise environments.
- Professional experience supporting investments, asset management, investment accounting, capital markets, treasury, finance, or another financially oriented function.
- Experience working in an agile, product-oriented technology environment with Product, Architecture, Security, Data, Risk, and business stakeholders.
- Knowledge of APIs, modular services, event-driven architecture, automated testing, secure development, source control, CI/CD, observability, and infrastructure as code.
- Working knowledge of technologies including Python, Java, C#/.NET, JavaScript or TypeScript, React, SQL, REST/GraphQL, Terraform, containers, serverless computing, workflow orchestration, and cloud data platforms.
- Hands-on understanding of AWS or a comparable public-cloud ecosystem, including compute, serverless services, containers, eventing, IAM, networking, monitoring, resilience, and cost management.
- Practical understanding of investment data and processes, including trade lifecycles, positions, transactions, reference data, pricing, valuations, cash, corporate actions, performance, risk, reconciliation, and investment accounting interfaces.
- Understanding of financial and insurance control environments, including auditability, data lineage, access controls, change management, segregation of duties, model governance, SOX ITGC, and SOC reporting.
- A master’s degree in technology, engineering, business, finance, or a quantitative discipline is preferred.
Responsibilities
- Lead, coach, and develop software engineering teams through hiring, performance management, career development, and workforce planning.
- Own predictable delivery and operational performance across product enhancements, modernization, regulatory commitments, reliability, and production support.
- Partner with investment and accounting leaders to understand portfolio management, trading, settlement, valuations, risk, cash, reconciliation, and financial reporting.
- Work with Product Management and Product Owners to shape roadmaps, define outcomes, manage dependencies, and allocate engineering capacity.
- Guide technical direction across applications, APIs, integrations, infrastructure, cloud, security, and data platforms.
- Establish engineering standards for secure development, code reviews, automated testing, CI/CD, infrastructure as code, observability, and release management.
- Oversee cloud-native applications, services, data pipelines, APIs, event-driven integrations, and analytical data capabilities.
- Manage integrations with investment platforms, accounting systems, custodians, market-data providers, and other technology partners.
- Ensure production services meet expectations for availability, resilience, performance, monitoring, incident response, and disaster recovery.
- Manage budgets, vendor spend, staffing, capacity, and forecasts, and evaluate emerging technologies including generative AI and agentic engineering tools.
