Job Details
- Experience
- Minimum of three years of experience using PTC Creo software. Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited institution and five years of relevant experience, or ten years of relevant experience without a degree.
- Required Skills
- AutoCAD
Requirements
- Have a minimum of three years of experience using PTC Creo; Creo proficiency is required for immediate contribution.
- Bring overall specialization in precision mechanical design.
- Demonstrate the ability to apply ASME Y14.5-2009 to real parts and assemblies, including datum systems, position, profile, orientation, runout, form controls, composite controls, projected tolerance zones, virtual condition, and bonus tolerance.
- Explain how a GD&T scheme protects function and how requirements can be manufactured and verified; identify overconstrained, underdefined, conflicting, or noninspectable requirements.
- Have advanced skill with PTC Creo and Windchill Data Management Software, or comparable parametric 3D CAD software and a data manager such as PDM or Vault, plus working knowledge of AutoCAD.
- Know drawing layout, orthographic projection, section and detail views, dimensioning, tolerancing, weld symbols, parts lists, item ballooning, and revision practices.
- Interpret engineering calculations, specifications, vendor data, design inputs, and redlines, converting them into controlled drawing content without changing engineering intent.
- Have experience performing independent drawing checks and documenting clear, technically defensible comments.
- Have working knowledge of materials, fabrication, machining, welding, inspection methods, and assembly practices and their effect on drawing requirements.
- Hold a bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution and have five years of relevant experience, or have ten years of relevant experience without a degree.
- Be able to work the MFC 4x10 schedule: four 10-hour days, Monday through Thursday, approximately 7:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Mountain Time.
Responsibilities
- Develop and revise 2D drawings, 3D parametric models, assemblies, and associated documentation from approved engineering inputs.
- Create drawings that define geometry, interfaces, materials, finishes, processes, tolerances, inspection requirements, quantities, and assembly relationships.
- Apply functional datum reference frames, feature control frames, material condition modifiers, basic dimensions, and general tolerances in accordance with ASME Y14.5-2009.
- Evaluate tolerance accumulation and fit at part and assembly interfaces, identifying conditions that could affect fabrication, inspection, assembly, interchangeability, or intended operation.
- Check drawings and models for fit, form, function, completeness, consistency, manufacturability, inspectability, and compliance with applicable standards.
- Verify parts lists, item balloons, quantities, drawing references, notes, weld symbols, revision identifiers, and change markings across drawing packages.
- Maintain drawing, model, and reference-file integrity through document control, revision control, configuration management, and records processes.
- Resolve technical comments from engineers, checkers, fabricators, inspectors, and document change reviews while maintaining an auditable disposition of changes.
- Coordinate with engineers and other disciplines to clarify requirements, document assumptions, identify missing inputs, and recommend drawing or modeling solutions.
- Plan assigned work against priorities and dates, provide progress updates, raise schedule or resource concerns, and mentor drafting personnel when requested.
