Requirements
- Have a bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Have one to three years of experience as a programmer in application development or operational support.
- Demonstrate the ability to design, develop, test, document, maintain, and enhance computer-based applications.
- Bring strong analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills.
- Be familiar with secure coding practices, development standards, and application security principles.
- Be able to manage multiple priorities and complete moderately complex assignments with a degree of independence.
- Be able to learn and apply new programming languages, tools, technologies, and development practices.
- Experience in higher education or another complex enterprise environment is preferred.
- Experience with database-driven or secure web application development is preferred.
- Experience with PeopleSoft, Oracle database and development technologies, SQL, or relational database systems is preferred.
- Experience with PeopleCode, Application Engine, Application Packages, SQR, Query, Java, PHP, Python, HTML, JavaScript, CSS, UNIX/Linux, or scripting languages is preferred.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, test, implement, document, and maintain enterprise application functionality and enhancements.
- Troubleshoot application and production issues, identify root causes, and implement solutions.
- Support reliable and secure production application environments, including on-call support as needed.
- Apply secure coding, testing, documentation, version-control, and application development standards.
- Collaborate with technical teams, business analysts, process owners, and other stakeholders to translate business needs into technical solutions.
- Support application upgrades and work with vendors and other technical partners as needed.
- Develop technical documentation, share knowledge with team members, and stay current with relevant programming tools, technologies, and development practices.
