  • Proficiency in Python or Go, with the ability and willingness to work in both languages over time.
  • Experience designing distributed or high-availability services, including scalability, reliability, and observability.
  • Hands-on experience building or maintaining scanning, detection, or similar engine-like systems, such as vulnerability scanning, security scanning, data processing pipelines, or high-throughput engines.
  • Strong fundamentals in data structures, algorithms, concurrency, and performance optimization.
  • Experience in a cloud-native environment, such as microservices, containers, CI/CD, monitoring, and logging.
  • Experience with testing, static analysis, code reviews, and building maintainable systems.

  • Ability to collaborate across product, security, and platform or infrastructure teams and communicate tradeoffs to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Cybersecurity domain knowledge in scanning through endpoints is a bonus.

Responsibilities

  • Own end-to-end systems design for key scanning engine components, from design through implementation, deployment, and iteration.
  • Design and implement maintainable, well-tested, observable services in Python and Go.
  • Improve scanning engine performance, scalability, and reliability for large-scale distributed workloads and strict SLAs.
  • Translate scanning and detection requirements into production-ready systems and APIs with security, product, and data teams.
  • Drive code quality standards through code reviews, design documentation, and secure coding practices.
  • Contribute to scanning platform architecture and roadmap decisions, evaluating tradeoffs and proposing solutions.
  • Diagnose and resolve production issues involving scanning performance, accuracy, and stability, working with SRE and infrastructure teams as needed.
  • Mentor engineers through design feedback, pairing, and knowledge sharing.
