Requirements
- Have strong professional experience developing backend applications with Python and Django.
- Have solid knowledge of relational database modeling, SQL, and PostgreSQL.
- Have hands-on experience designing and implementing RESTful APIs; Django REST Framework or a similar framework is advantageous.
- Have experience developing non-trivial business logic or algorithmic systems such as scoring, ranking, decision rules, routing, or optimization.
- Understand backend performance, including query behavior, indexing, caching, and database or service bottlenecks.
- Write clean, pragmatic, production-ready code that is understandable, maintainable, testable, and adaptable.
- Be comfortable working independently in a remote environment with ownership and accountability.
- Communicate and collaborate effectively with distributed teams and on ambiguous requirements.
- Bring a startup-oriented approach and adapt solutions based on real-world feedback.
- Experience with algorithms, optimization, or data-intensive systems is a plus.
- Production experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) is advantageous.
- Familiarity with Redis, PostgreSQL at scale, Docker, Kubernetes, or GCP serverless architectures is beneficial.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain backend services and RESTful APIs using Python, Django, and DRF or comparable frameworks.
- Design and evolve relational database schemas, relationships, and domain models using PostgreSQL and SQL.
- Implement backend algorithms and business logic for scoring, ranking, routing, decision flows, and optimization.
- Build production-ready services focused on correctness, maintainability, reliability, and ease of iteration.
- Optimize backend performance using efficient queries, indexing, caching, and lean API responses.
- Translate product concepts into technical designs, services, and endpoints with product and engineering stakeholders.
- Contribute to backend architecture, coding conventions, reusable patterns, and development practices.
- Work independently in a distributed remote team and communicate technical decisions, progress, and challenges.
