Requirements
- Bring 6+ years of professional software engineering experience, including 5+ years of commercial React and TypeScript.
- Demonstrate expert-level TypeScript and modern JavaScript, with deep command of React, data fetching, routing, and component libraries.
- Have strong software engineering fundamentals, including design patterns, testing, debugging, and maintainable code for large-scale codebases.
- Have experience shipping and operating production frontends for customer-facing SaaS products, including monitoring, incident response, and performance improvement.
- Demonstrate experience diagnosing and fixing page-load, rendering, and other frontend performance problems.
- Have experience consuming and shaping REST APIs in a service-oriented architecture; Django REST Framework or an equivalent is preferred.
- Bring working knowledge of frontend observability tools such as Sentry, Grafana Logs, or New Relic, and CI/CD pipelines such as GitHub Actions or ArgoCD.
- Understand common frontend security risks, including XSS and CSRF, and how to design against them.
- Have strong working fluency with agentic coding tools and spec-driven development workflows, including specification writing, code and test generation, and critical review.
- Understand UI, UX, and accessibility considerations and be able to improve designs before implementation.
- Have experience collaborating with product managers and designers on shared customer outcomes.
- Communicate technical concepts and trade-offs clearly in plain English.
- Be available to work with substantial overlap with UK working hours.
Responsibilities
- Build and maintain product interfaces across web applications using TypeScript, React, TanStack Query, React Router, MaterialUI, and BaseUI.
- Translate product requirements and design concepts into technical documents covering scope, system behaviour, edge cases, and technical analysis.
- Design component APIs, state management, and data-fetching patterns that remain readable and extendable as the codebase grows.
- Integrate with REST APIs in a service-oriented architecture and shape API contracts with backend engineers.
- Review, refactor, and retire existing code to support improved or new features.
- Diagnose and resolve page-load, rendering, and other frontend performance problems; write unit, integration, and end-to-end tests.
- Instrument frontend observability using tools such as Sentry, Grafana Logs, or New Relic, and address production issues.
- Turn product ideas into implementation-ready specifications and prototype interfaces to test feasibility and product value.
- Use agentic coding tools to generate, refactor, test, and review code, critically evaluating output for correctness, maintainability, security, performance, and accessibility.
- Collaborate with product managers, designers, and engineers through problem framing, code review, pair programming, and release.
