Requirements
- Hands-on experience designing and building backend systems in Python in production.
- Comfort with SQL beyond CRUD, including shaping schemas, tuning queries, and reasoning about data flow through relational systems.
- Ability to take work from an initial problem through delivery, make trade-offs, and iterate based on system usage.
- Comfort working directly with marketing and sales and translating business goals into solutions.
- Experience building agentic workflows or using AI to scale engineering output, with judgment about when to use it.
- Ability to write and speak clearly, directly, and concisely, adapting technical detail to the audience.
- Frontend coding openness or experience, particularly in React or TypeScript, is a bonus.
- Experience with SQLAlchemy, scikit-learn, pandas, and PostgreSQL is a bonus.
- Experience designing, building, and managing relational databases is a bonus.
- Experience with Snowflake, Looker, or equivalent analytics tooling is a bonus.
Responsibilities
- Build the backend behind iwoca’s German acquisition technology, building on the UK systems and creating what Germany needs.
- Own the German acquisition stack, including lead-value signals sent to ad platforms, bidding, and attribution.
- Shape the technical roadmap, architecture, scaling, and technical direction.
- Work with marketing and data science to target relevant businesses and improve conversion across paid search, direct mail, and outbound sales.
- Integrate third-party APIs to reduce sign-up friction and improve lead data.
- Build the pipelines, databases, and REST APIs behind the acquisition stack.
- Build HubSpot tooling used by the sales team.
- Engineer features for data scientists and put their models into production.
- Set up versioning and monitoring for production models.
