Requirements
- Have 5+ years of professional software engineering experience, including significant ownership of production applications.
- Demonstrate strong full-stack development capabilities using modern web technologies.
- Have experience inheriting, evaluating, and improving existing codebases.
- Have experience deploying and supporting applications in a major cloud or managed hosting environment.
- Understand Git-based software development workflows and have hands-on experience with CI/CD pipelines and automated deployments.
- Have working knowledge of relational databases, database security, migrations, and backup strategies.
- Have experience implementing authentication, authorization, SSO, OAuth, and/or OpenID Connect.
- Understand application security fundamentals, secrets management, and least-privilege access.
- Have experience implementing production logging, monitoring, alerting, and error tracking.
- Be able to troubleshoot production issues across application, cloud, and infrastructure layers independently.
- Be comfortable using AI-assisted development tools while applying engineering, security, and maintainability standards.
- Preferred: experience supporting internal enterprise applications and integrating with Microsoft Entra ID/Azure AD, Okta, Google Workspace, or similar identity platforms.
- Preferred: familiarity with infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform or Pulumi.
Responsibilities
- Take technical ownership of the existing web application and review its AI-generated codebase and architecture.
- Identify technical debt, security vulnerabilities, and architectural risks, and implement targeted refactoring.
- Develop and maintain front-end, back-end, API, and database functionality.
- Establish coding, documentation, testing, code-review, and engineering standards.
- Design and maintain secure, cost-effective hosting infrastructure with separate development/test and production environments.
- Implement CI/CD pipelines and document deployment, rollback, and release processes.
- Manage application configuration, secrets, certificates, domains, backups, and recovery processes.
- Implement monitoring, logging, error tracking, and alerting, and track reliability, performance, and infrastructure costs.
- Implement SSO, role-based access control, least-privilege permissions, and audit logging.
- Assess production readiness, prioritize remediation, collaborate with IT and security teams, and provide ongoing troubleshooting and support.
