Requirements
- Have professional software engineering experience and a track record of delivering production-quality software.
- Have experience with multiple programming languages, frameworks, and programming paradigms; PHP and JavaScript familiarity is valuable.
- Be able and willing to become proficient in new technologies.
- Have experience working at scale, such as with backend systems, performance engineering, distributed systems, or products serving a large user base.
- Understand software architecture, abstraction, system behavior, and trade-offs between technical complexity and business or user value.
- Bring strong debugging and problem-solving abilities, including interest in investigating complex technical challenges.
- Maintain high standards for code quality, maintainability, reliability, and attention to detail.
- Work effectively in a fully distributed environment and collaborate asynchronously across teams, time zones, and communication channels.
- Be comfortable with peer code review, continuous integration, frequent deployments, and iterative product development.
- Communicate technical decisions clearly in writing and verbally, and collaborate constructively with colleagues.
- Travel approximately 3–4 weeks per year for in-person team meetups.
Responsibilities
- Design, build, improve, and maintain software across products including publishing, e-commerce, content management, and communication platforms.
- Develop reliable, scalable solutions with attention to performance, maintainability, abstraction costs, and user needs.
- Participate in problem understanding, solution design, implementation, testing, code review, deployment, and ongoing improvement.
- Diagnose and resolve complex technical issues through systematic debugging.
- Collaborate with distributed engineering teams through written communication, code reviews, technical discussions, and shared practices.
- Contribute to open-source projects and engineering practices that support transparency, reuse, and community participation.
- Apply AI-assisted development tools and workflows where appropriate.
- Learn and adapt across programming languages, frameworks, architectures, and technical paradigms.
