Requirements
- Be enrolled at a U.S. law school.
- Have completed at least one year of law school before the internship commences.
- Demonstrate excellent research skills, including internet and legal database research.
- Demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Be able to analyze complex legal issues.
- Show initiative in seeing projects through to completion.
- Have a commitment to civil liberties, civil rights, and social justice, particularly as they relate to national security, and to the ACLU’s mission.
- Be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
Responsibilities
- Conduct legal and policy research.
- Draft memoranda, affidavits, and briefs.
- Research factual and legal claims and prospects for new litigation.
- Research and draft materials for public education.
- Support the National Security Project’s legal and advocacy work.
