Requirements
- Be a currently matriculated undergraduate student.
- Have completed at least one year of an undergraduate program before the internship commences.
- Be based in the U.S. for the entire duration of the internship.
- Have a strong interest in the rights of incarcerated people.
- Demonstrate a commitment to civil rights.
- Have strong organizational skills.
- Be able to work independently.
- Have excellent research and writing skills.
- Have excellent communication skills.
- Have strong computer skills, particularly in web-based research.
- Be proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, including Word and Excel.
- Work full-time, 35 hours per week, for 10 consecutive weeks.
Responsibilities
- Assist with the production and distribution of advocacy materials.
- Conduct factual research and writing regarding the rights of incarcerated people and legislative movement.
- Gather current information about prison and jail conditions.
- Document and track complaints received from incarcerated people.
- Respond to complaints with informational materials.
- Provide campaign and litigation support to supervising attorneys.
