Requirements
- Be currently matriculated in an undergraduate program.
- Have completed at least one year of the undergraduate program before the internship begins.
- Be based in the U.S. for the entire duration of the internship.
- Tie the internship to formal education through integrated coursework or academic credit.
- Have a strong interest in the rights of incarcerated people and a commitment to civil rights.
- Have strong organizational skills and the ability to work independently.
- Have research, writing, and communication skills.
- Have strong computer skills, including web-based research proficiency.
- Be proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, including Word and Excel.
Responsibilities
- Assist with producing and distributing advocacy materials.
- Conduct factual research and writing on the rights of incarcerated people and legislative developments.
- Gather current information about prison and jail conditions.
- Document and track complaints from incarcerated people and respond with informational materials.
- Provide campaign and litigation support to supervising attorneys.
