Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering required; chemical, mechanical, or petroleum engineering preferred.
- Professional experience in the oil and gas industry required.
- Preferably 3-5 years of field-based operations experience, such as production engineering, facility engineering, drilling or workover, well completion, production testing, wireline, gas processing, or plugging.
- Demonstrated experience managing multiple concurrent workstreams and resources.
- Experience managing field-based contractors preferred.
- Hands-on experience with chemical or analytical equipment preferred.
- Experience performing data analysis and building simple models in Excel or other tools.
- Valid U.S. driver’s license and willingness to travel to field sites and other locations.
- Able to work in hazardous and potentially hazardous environments and maintain safety standards.
- Able to carry up to 50 pounds of equipment and work in varying weather conditions for extended periods.
- Able to travel up to 50% during peak season; field days may last up to 16 hours.
- Located within close proximity to a major airport.
Responsibilities
- Manage orphaned oil and gas well projects from well identification and methane measurement through plugging.
- Plan and lead emissions quantification fieldwork and oversee external contractors, safety protocols, regulatory compliance, and on-site decisions.
- Coordinate project workstreams, teams, priorities, and dependencies from fieldwork through verification and crediting.
- Process and analyze data from analytical equipment, historical records, and databases; build models using Excel or other tools.
- Research technical, market, environmental, and regulatory contexts and communicate findings in reports, memos, whitepapers, and presentations.
- Use and support the development of standard operating procedures for measurement equipment, field operations, and data processing.
- Support carbon protocol development and evaluate methodological approaches, technical requirements, and crediting frameworks.
- Evaluate new geographic areas and support state-specific workflow development.
- Coordinate with technicians, consultants, contractors, project managers, landowners, regulators, and government officials.
- Support regulatory compliance, including permits, documentation, and agency reporting.
