Requirements
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
- Hold a current Illinois LPN license.
- Have at least three years of clinical experience in an acute ambulatory or acute care setting.
- Reside within a 100-mile radius of Springfield, Illinois.
- Have intermediate computer skills and the ability to type 40 words per minute accurately.
- Use multiple computer programs and electronic health records.
- Work the listed rotating schedule: Week 1, Friday 5–8 p.m. and Saturday 8 a.m.–1 p.m.; Week 2, Monday and Thursday 5–8 p.m.
- Be available to work 4–5 of the 9 observed holidays.
- Be able to sit for long periods.
Responsibilities
- Perform medication refill requests, document nursing home reports, provide select lab results, and verify orders and information in the electronic health record.
- Collect data and provide basic nursing assessments to identify patients who need RN TeleNurse Triage services.
- Report emergent, urgent, and routine patient healthcare needs to the Charge Nurse.
- Prioritize calls in the queue, manage time and resources, and enter data during calls.
- Use multiple software programs in real time while working efficiently with minimal supervision.
- Serve as a resource to new LPNs and advocate for patients in collaboration with the RN TeleNurse.
- Provide staffing during critical staffing times and work 4–5 of the 9 observed holidays.
- Communicate with callers in a calm and professional manner and follow incident reporting, training, privacy, and conduct policies.
