Requirements
- Have proven experience in global trade compliance or customs operations.
- Have extensive US import-export experience.
- Have experience with US, UK, and EU imports and exports.
- Have direct experience managing customs broker relationships.
- Have experience managing shipment documentation at volume.
- Have experience filing duty drawback or tariff reclaim claims.
- Be comfortable working autonomously as an individual contributor.
- Be based in the EU or UK and able to work across time zones.
- Bring strong stakeholder management skills for coordinating brokers, carriers, manufacturers, and internal teams.
- Nice to have: experience with free trade agreements and preferential duty schemes.
- Nice to have: experience in jewellery, diamonds, gemstones, or other high-value or luxury goods logistics.
- Nice to have: experience with Indian export processes.
Responsibilities
- Prepare shipment documentation and commercial invoices, and ensure complete documentation from brokers and carriers is stored centrally.
- Apply approved HTS classifications and country-of-origin determinations across shipment processes and systems.
- Manage customs broker relationships, coordinate clearance, review performance, and ensure broker practices align with the classification framework.
- Monitor duties in landed shipping costs, identify unexpected outcomes, and file claims when errors are found.
- Resolve routine customs queries and ensure import and export declarations are applied accurately.
- Run the duty drawback program day to day, coordinate with Livingstone, and prepare and validate claims.
- Monitor the US import bond and keep it compliant.
- Work with manufacturers, starting with India, on compliant and duty-efficient export documentation and processes.
- Identify duty-saving opportunities through relevant free trade agreements.
- Build trade compliance processes for new duty-liable markets and escalate complex classification or legal interpretation questions.
