Requirements
- 10+ years of software engineering experience with evidence of operating at a principal level.
- Expert-level proficiency in Node.js, JavaScript, and TypeScript.
- Deep understanding of the Node.js runtime, event loop, and asynchronous programming.
- Proven experience with microservices, event-driven architecture, and eventual consistency.
- Hands-on experience with caching layers (Redis) and messaging/queuing systems (Kafka, RabbitMQ, SQS/SNS).
- Deep experience with at least one primary cloud (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
- Strong understanding of containerization (Docker) and orchestration (Kubernetes).
- Strong experience with relational databases (PostgreSQL/MySQL) and NoSQL (e.g., DynamoDB).
- Strong experience with CI/CD pipelines and automated testing strategies.
- Demonstrated ability to influence technical direction across teams without direct authority.
Responsibilities
- Own the end-to-end architecture and lifecycle of critical systems from design through production.
- Design and build high-scale, distributed services using Node.js and TypeScript.
- Lead the decomposition of monolithic systems into well-bounded microservices.
- Act as a technical authority by evaluating frameworks, tools, and engineering practices.
- Design robust, versioned, and well-governed APIs (REST/GraphQL/event-driven).
- Drive best practices for logging, monitoring, tracing, and alerting.
- Set benchmarks for code quality, testing strategy, and CI/CD practices.
- Mentor senior and mid-level engineers to elevate team capability.
