Requirements

  • 4+ years of experience designing, developing, and launching backend systems at scale.
  • Proficiency in modern programming languages such as Python, Kotlin, or Java.
  • Track record of developing highly available distributed systems using AWS, MySQL, and Kubernetes.
  • Experience with relational databases, event-driven architectures, and RPC or API frameworks.
  • Experience defining technical plans for significant feature or system component delivery.
  • Proficiency in making significant changes in a large codebase using safe testing strategies, migrations, and rollouts.
  • Familiarity with standards and protocols such as OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect, WebAuthn/passkeys, FIDO2, JWTs, and public-key cryptography.
  • Knowledge of security and assurance frameworks such as NIST Digital Identity Guidelines or PCI DSS.
  • Experience designing session-management, token-issuance, account-recovery, or multi-factor authentication systems.
  • Familiarity with risk-based or adaptive authentication and fraud controls.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent practical experience.

Responsibilities

  • Own the technical design and delivery of authentication platform capabilities from architecture through operation.
  • Build secure, highly available systems for sign-in, account recovery, session management, and identity federation.
  • Collaborate with Product, Security, Fraud, and Compliance teams to translate requirements into pragmatic technical designs.
  • Lead technical initiatives and influence the architecture and evolution of the platform.
  • Identify and solve systemic issues related to project, process, technology, or reliability.
  • Support operations, monitoring, and on-call efforts to ensure system availability.
  • Foster a culture of quality through code reviews, design standards, and technical documentation.
  • Mentor other engineers through design reviews and hands-on collaboration to develop team talent.
