Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent experience.
- 10 or more years of software development experience.
- Deep proficiency in at least one of: Java, C#/F# (.NET), C++, Python, or TypeScript.
- History of delivering production software in your primary technology stack.
- Experience designing and owning the architecture of a complex software system or major subsystem.
- Proven technical decisions that held up across multiple releases.
- Track record of providing technical leadership across a team or product area.
- Ability to explain technical trade-offs to product managers and design choices to junior engineers.
- Knowledge of cloud-native development, CI/CD pipelines, containerization, or infrastructure automation (preferred).
- Experience with distributed systems, scientific computing, or large-scale data (preferred).
Responsibilities
- Shape the technical direction of products and platforms across planning horizons.
- Scope major technical work including effort estimation, risk identification, and delivery planning.
- Design and build new applications and major enhancements in partnership with product management.
- Serve as the technical authority to resolve complex problems and lead design/code reviews.
- Evaluate architecture for performance, scalability, and security and drive necessary improvements.
- Challenge delivery processes to minimize risk and improve feedback loops.
- Mentor junior and mid-level engineers through guidance and technical leadership.
- Stay current on relevant technologies and drive the adoption of new tools and practices.
- Own product security by setting standards and driving vulnerability resolution.
