- Several years of experience designing complex software, tools, dashboards, or platforms.
- Proven ability in information design, including managing hierarchy and progressive disclosure.
- Strong visual storytelling skills for explaining technical concepts.
- Proficiency in brand and campaign craft, including layout, typography, and illustration.
- Experience with motion design as a means to communicate state and time.
- Discipline in building and maintaining scalable design systems.
- Strong design sensibility and a high visual bar.
- Technical curiosity and the ability to design based on understanding system architecture.
- Writing skills for UI copy, including labels, error messages, and headlines.
- AI literacy to use AI tools for enhancing impact and efficiency.
- Comfort working with significant autonomy and providing a strong design point of view.
Responsibilities
- Design the core Restate UI from whiteboarding through to shipping.
- Improve information density and readability for complex technical data like execution timelines, retries, and failures.
- Maintain a coherent mental model across UI, SDKs, and documentation.
- Create visual explanations, including interactive and animated content, for Restate's architecture.
- Build and maintain scalable design systems for UI components and architectural diagrams.
- Collaborate directly with engineers to iterate on designs without traditional handoffs.
