Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in a humanities field (e.g., English, Creative Writing, Journalism) from US schools.
- 1+ years of teaching experience in English or experience working in a college-level Writing Center.
- Demonstrated academic excellence with a 3.5+ GPA.
- Strong verbal skills and mastery of the English language.
- Proficiency in MS Excel, MS Word, MS PowerPoint, and G-Suites.
- Reliable internet connection and a workspace with minimal noise/distraction.
- Commitment to work Tuesdays–Thursdays (1:30 pm – 9:30 pm CST) and Saturdays–Sundays (9:30 am – 5:30 pm CST).
Responsibilities
- Instruct small groups of students in English core skills to promote understanding and college readiness exam success (ACT & SAT).
- Track student progress through a multi-phase curriculum and engage students in improvement opportunities.
- Maintain student lesson schedules and hold students accountable for assignments.
- Model professionalism and provide timely communication to students.
- Spearhead the development and creative execution of evolving lesson plans and curriculum.
- Guide middle and high school students through the college application process with empathy.
