Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Must hold one or more of the following: CPC (AAPC) or CCS/CCS-P (AHIMA).
- 1–3+ years of professional (physician-based) coding experience.
- Strong knowledge of ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS Level II coding guidelines.
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and healthcare documentation.
- Proficiency with electronic health records (EHR), Epic experience preferred.
- Experience with E/M coding and/or surgical/procedural coding.
- Ability to work independently and maintain a secure, private workspace.
- Maintain a minimum productivity standard with a 95% accuracy rating.
Responsibilities
- Enter coded/abstracted information into 3M 360 Finder and review all coding edits.
- Assign E/M, ICD-10-CM, CPT, or chargemaster codes to ensure documentation support.
- Monitor and resolve rejected accounts on Claims Edit Reports and EHR error reports.
- Review outpatient uncoded reports and resolve old uncoded accounts.
- Maintain compliance with CMS regulations, NCCI edits, and organizational policies.
- Report documentation insufficiencies to the responsible physician.
- Participate in compliance initiatives to reduce coding-related denials.
