Requirements
- 5+ years of overall professional experience, including at least 3 years of hands-on MySQL database administration.
- Strong experience implementing, administering, and optimizing MySQL databases, including performance tuning and replication.
- Experience with GCP cloud database technologies is preferred; AWS cloud database experience is also relevant.
- Proficiency with MySQL administration tools and database performance monitoring.
- Strong understanding of database performance metrics, including I/O, CPU utilization, queries, and related indicators.
- Experience writing SQL queries for reporting, analytics, and operational requirements.
- Solid Linux administration skills in database environments.
- Scripting experience with Python, preferably, or Shell/Bash.
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting abilities, with a structured approach to diagnosing complex database issues.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with Operations, Development, and other technical stakeholders.
Responsibilities
- Design, build, configure, and administer highly available, reliable, and high-performing MySQL databases.
- Support production database environments operating across global data centers and maintain high levels of system availability.
- Configure, monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize MySQL replication and clustering, including master-master replication.
- Monitor database performance indicators such as I/O, CPU utilization, queries, and other relevant metrics.
- Perform database performance tuning, backup and recovery activities, and proactive monitoring to prevent operational issues.
- Investigate and resolve complex database problems, ensuring timely restoration and continued system availability.
- Develop SQL queries and database reports to support internal stakeholders, reporting, and analytics needs.
- Automate recurring database administration and operational tasks using Python, Shell, or Bash scripting.
- Contribute to database modernization initiatives, including migration and optimization within cloud-based environments.
- Document database architectures, operational processes, procedures, and technical guidelines.
