Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, HVAC engineering, or a related field.
- 8+ years of relevant experience or equivalent education.
- Professional Engineer (P.E.) registration required.
- Experience in data center mechanical and electrical equipment installation and operation.
- Proficiency in HVAC load calculations and capacity planning.
- Experience with CFD analysis for airflow management.
- Knowledge of data center industry standards such as Uptime Institute Tier Standards, TIA 942, or ANSI/BICSI 002 is preferred.
- Relevant professional certifications like CEM, BEMP, or LEED are advantageous.
Responsibilities
- Develop and design heat rejection and HVAC systems tailored for data centers considering redundancy and energy efficiency.
- Select appropriate air/water side cooling systems such as CRAHs, chilled water systems, and containment solutions.
- Conduct internal and external CFD simulations to optimize airflow distribution and mechanical performance.
- Design HVAC systems with redundancy and fault-tolerant features to ensure continuous data center operation.
- Perform heat load calculations and capacity planning to accommodate IT equipment and future expansions.
- Collaborate with electrical and mechanical engineers to integrate HVAC systems with facility power and fire suppression infrastructure.
