Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Tax, Accounting, or a related field.
- At least 6 years of indirect tax experience in public accounting and/or a multinational corporate tax environment.
- Hands-on operational experience with U.S. and international indirect taxes across B2B and B2C transactions.
- Experience researching taxability, nexus obligations, place-of-supply rules, invoicing requirements, and exemptions.
- Experience supporting indirect tax compliance, accounting, audits, and controls across multiple jurisdictions.
- Ability to translate complex tax requirements into practical processes, data requirements, and system configurations.
- Strong project-management skills and experience supporting system changes or cross-functional initiatives.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience with Vertex is strongly preferred; other enterprise tax engine experience may be considered.
- Experience with ERP, billing, procurement, and financial-reporting systems.
- Experience with automation or data tools such as Alteryx or SQL is beneficial.
- CPA, CMI, MST, JD, LLM, or comparable professional qualification is preferred.
Responsibilities
- Manage key elements of the global indirect tax function across B2B and B2C revenue streams, including U.S. sales and use tax, VAT/GST, digital services taxes, and other transactional taxes.
- Oversee indirect tax registrations, return compliance, payments, exemption documentation, taxability determinations, and related controls across multiple jurisdictions.
- Own and continuously improve indirect tax processes and systems, including product and taxability mapping, exemption management, transaction testing, system integrations, data validation, and issue resolution.
- Serve as a cross-functional indirect tax partner for new products, commercial arrangements, billing changes, and geographic expansion initiatives.
- Monitor and implement evolving e-invoicing, digital reporting, and real-time reporting requirements across applicable jurisdictions.
- Perform indirect tax account reconciliations, accruals, journal entries, period-close activities, and internal control procedures.
- Advise on indirect tax considerations within customer and vendor agreements, invoicing requirements, and available exemptions.
- Manage indirect tax audits, notices, disclosures, and related interactions with tax authorities.
