Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in BSA/AML, privacy, identity theft prevention, and OFAC.
- Minimum of 3 years of supervisory experience maintaining strategic direction at a department level.
- Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE) certification.
- Bank Secrecy Act Compliance Specialist (BSACS) or comparable certification.
- In-depth understanding of fraud types and prevention strategies (e.g., online fraud, phishing, identity theft).
- Strong knowledge of card network rules (Visa, MasterCard), chargeback processes, and dispute resolution.
- Expertise in federal, state, and industry regulations including Reg E and consumer protection laws.
- Strong analytical and decision-making skills to evaluate fraud data and loss trends.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills for interacting with internal/external stakeholders.
Responsibilities
- Lead the credit union’s Fraud Investigators and ensure timely handling of alerts and cases.
- Manage Fraud and Dispute Specialists to ensure compliance with card network rules and regulations.
- Resolve complex transactions and escalated member service issues.
- Develop strategies to protect the credit union against emerging fraud trends.
- Report on fraud losses, trends, and mitigation results to the Compliance/BSA Officer.
- Ensure fraud management practices comply with federal, state, and consumer protection laws.
- Collaborate with Employee Development for fraud training and internal awareness programs.
- Investigate and prepare responses for regulatory agencies and internal/external auditors.
- Assess fraud risks with business units and implement mitigation strategies.
