Requirements
- 7+ years of experience designing and building scalable backend services in a modern production environment.
- Strong proficiency in Go.
- Deep understanding of distributed systems and service-oriented architecture.
- Experience with JavaScript/TypeScript or ability to pick up Node.js quickly.
- Proven experience working on a team that builds and maintains native mobile apps.
- Knowledge of mobile-specific backend constraints: API design, versioning, backwards compatibility, latency, and offline behavior.
- Well-versed in SQL and relational database design.
- General knowledge of frontend development.
- Excellent English communication skills.
- Must be based in a European time zone.
- Degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent experience.
- Self-starter with strong ownership and ability to learn complex systems.
Responsibilities
- Design, build, and maintain core APIs and backend services powering the mobile app and marketplace.
- Own the operations and monitoring of production systems.
- Act as the mobile-aware voice in backend decisions, reviewing designs and API changes to ensure mobile-compatibility.
- Integrate third-party systems and APIs into the platform.
- Own the design and implementation of new features and services.
- Create and suggest engineering standards for the department.
- Document solutions through flowcharts, diagrams, and clear code.
- Mentor junior colleagues and onboard new joiners.
- Collaborate with product managers, designers, and business stakeholders.
- Perform basic frontend tasks as needed.
