Requirements

  • At least 6 years of experience in Software Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical discipline.
  • Demonstrated experience maintaining and delivering production software in Go, Ruby, Python, Java, JavaScript, C#, C++, or Rust.
  • At least 5 years of experience designing software and systems for scalable, reliable services.
  • At least 5 years of experience facilitating cross-team technical discussions.
  • At least 5 years of experience maintaining and operating live production services, including debugging and incident response.
  • Hands-on production experience with Go and/or Ruby, particularly Ruby on Rails, is strongly preferred.
  • Familiarity with GraphQL and Remote Procedure Call (RPC) frameworks such as Twirp is desirable.
  • Experience building platforms or infrastructure that support multiple client surfaces (mobile, desktop, CLI) is a plus.
  • Proven experience extracting shared libraries or platform capabilities from application codebases.
  • Experience working within and extending large existing codebases, including monolithic architectures.
  • Experience defining SLOs, telemetry, and observability strategies.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain, extend, and operate production-grade Ruby and Go services supporting first-party client applications.
  • Lead and facilitate technical design and architecture discussions across product, client application, and domain service teams.
  • Translate client requirements into scalable platform solutions and identify opportunities to extract common functionality.
  • Collaborate with domain teams to extend or integrate with large Ruby on Rails codebases.
  • Define effective testing strategies, success metrics, Service Level Objectives (SLOs), and rollout/rollback plans.
  • Monitor telemetry and service health to support data-informed engineering decisions.
  • Participate in on-call rotations, lead incident response, and implement long-term reliability improvements.
  • Mentor engineers, participate in code reviews, and promote engineering excellence.
