Requirements
- 7+ years of experience designing and building scalable backend services in a modern production environment.
- Strong proficiency in Go and a deep understanding of distributed systems and service-oriented architecture.
- Comfortable with JavaScript/TypeScript or the ability to pick up Node.js quickly.
- Experience working on a team that builds and maintains a native mobile app.
- Understanding of how mobile apps consume backend services, including API design, versioning, latency, and offline behavior.
- Well-versed in SQL and relational database design.
- General knowledge of the frontend world and ability to perform basic tasks in frontend apps.
- Self-starter with strong ownership and the ability to learn complex systems.
- Excellent English skills.
- Degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
Responsibilities
- Design, build, and maintain core APIs and backend services that power the mobile app and marketplace.
- Own the operations and monitoring of production systems.
- Serve as the mobile-aware voice in backend decisions across squads to ensure API design aligns with app constraints.
- Integrate third-party systems and APIs into the platform.
- Own the design and implementation of new features and services.
- Identify best practices and establish engineering standards across the department.
- Document solutions using flowcharts, diagrams, and clear code documentation.
- Contribute to team culture through mentoring junior colleagues and onboarding new joiners.
- Collaborate with product managers, designers, and business stakeholders to deliver high-quality solutions.
