Requirements
- U.S. citizenship.
- 8+ years of professional software engineering experience.
- 3+ years of demonstrated ownership of system or solution architecture.
- Experience designing distributed, cloud-native systems operating in production.
- Broad technical experience across package management, CI/CD, ML infrastructure, data platforms, and web services.
- Deep expertise in numerical computing, distributed/high-performance computing, cloud infrastructure, MLOps, data engineering, or AI.
- Proficiency in Python and strong understanding of software engineering principles and design patterns.
- Experience defining system interfaces, integration patterns, and technical roadmaps.
- Ability to identify and manage cross-cutting concerns involving security, scalability, and reliability.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills for technical and nontechnical audiences.
Responsibilities
- Define and maintain the end-to-end system architecture, technical roadmap, and architectural principles for complex open-source AI solutions.
- Develop and maintain interface specifications that ensure interoperability across platform services, evaluation tools, infrastructure, and external systems.
- Evaluate open-source and commercial technologies and document the technical, operational, security, and sustainability tradeoffs.
- Ensure system designs account for Government hosting, identity, security, accreditation, and interoperability requirements.
- Represent the technical solution during Government design reviews, program milestones, and stakeholder discussions.
- Provide expert guidance on open-source AI frameworks and platforms such as PyTorch, JAX, Ray, Kubeflow, MCP, and open-weight LLMs.
- Partner with infrastructure, platform, ML, data, security, and application engineers to ensure consistent implementation.
