Requirements
- Sustained record of technical leadership across more than one team or a broad product area.
- Deep backend architecture and production experience in complex applications, services, or platforms.
- Experience modernizing a monolith or legacy backend architecture in production.
- Experience with modular architecture such as bounded contexts, service extraction, or equivalent.
- Strong ability to create alignment through clear written proposals and decision records.
- Ability to balance customer outcomes, delivery speed, technical health, and long-term platform investment.
- Experience mentoring engineers and shaping standards through code review and documentation.
- Production experience with AI-assisted or agentic engineering workflows.
- Experience with Go services and APIs at scale.
- Experience with Kubernetes and cloud-native operations.
- Familiarity with Ruby/Rails modularization and PostgreSQL scaling.
Responsibilities
- Lead the technical design and delivery of large backend initiatives that span teams and remove systemic bottlenecks.
- Drive modular backend, service, data, and platform architecture, modernizing monoliths toward reusable systems.
- Define and improve standards for APIs, security, performance, observability, and production-readiness.
- Establish shared patterns for dependency management, data ownership, eventing, and service maturity.
- Participate in on-call and incident response, turning lessons into architectural and operational improvements.
- Influence technical direction across organizational boundaries through clear written proposals.
- Mentor senior and intermediate engineers and shepherd technical debt reduction.
- Lead team-level adoption of AI-assisted and agentic workflows including establishing operational guardrails.
