Requirements
- 18+ years of professional engineering experience in major capital projects (mining, minerals processing, oil and gas, or heavy industry).
- Significant experience as the lead engineering authority on the owner's side.
- Track record of delivering projects through the full lifecycle from FEED to mechanical completion, including at least one project above $700M.
- Deep experience managing and directing EPCM contractors.
- Strong multi-discipline technical foundation (civil/structural, mechanical, process, electrical, and instrumentation).
- Capability in constructability/operability reviews, value engineering, and HAZOP/HAZID facilitation.
- Experience developing and executing engineering management plans and stage-gate technical submissions.
- Bachelor's degree (or higher) in an engineering discipline.
- Chartered Engineer status or equivalent professional registration strongly preferred.
- Ability and willingness to travel internationally to Zambia (90+ days per year).
- Experience in African or similarly complex operating environments is an advantage.
Responsibilities
- Hold and exercise design authority on behalf of KoBold, making binding technical decisions across all disciplines.
- Establish basis of design, engineering standards, and criteria for the project.
- Own the technical risk register and drive the resolution of engineering risks.
- Direct EPCM and specialist contractor technical performance by challenging design solutions and enforcing requirements.
- Lead formal constructability, operability, and value engineering reviews.
- Manage engineering integration across disciplines to ensure project design coherence.
- Oversee process safety and hazard management, including HAZOP, HAZID, and SIL assessments.
- Build and lead a high-performing engineering team and mentor senior engineers.
