Requirements
- JD degree and licensed to practice law in one or more US jurisdictions.
- 5+ years of experience in a law firm and/or in-house legal department.
- Exposure to life science or health care organizations.
- Proven track record of taking on projects in unfamiliar areas and driving them to completion with minimal oversight.
- Experience advising commercial leaders on business strategies, product promotion, sales programs, and transactions.
- Experience developing processes to comply with regulatory requirements, drafting policies, and delivering employee training.
- Familiarity with commercial compliance, corporate governance, intellectual property, or labor and employment law.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to communicate legal solutions effectively to leadership.
- Ability to operate with significant autonomy and ambiguity in a lean legal team.
- Resourceful, adaptable, and creative problem-solving mindset.
Responsibilities
- Identify and address legal and compliance risks across Product, Marketing, Commercial Operations, Market Access/Reimbursement, R&D, People Ops, and Finance.
- Independently identify gaps in existing policies and processes and drive the build-out of compliance infrastructure.
- Draft, negotiate, review, and interpret strategic, high-value company contracts.
- Develop and implement internal legal and compliance policies, SOPs, and training programs.
- Take ownership of legal questions in unfamiliar subject areas by conducting research and soliciting business input to drive resolutions.
- Partner with the legal team to build a compliance program tailored to a lab services/life science organization.
