Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in data engineering.
  • 3+ years managing data engineering, machine learning, and data science teams.
  • Hands-on experience managing GCP data infrastructure.
  • Extensive proficiency with columnar SQL warehouses (BigQuery or Snowflake).
  • Experience with ELT tools like Dataform or dbt.
  • Expertise in orchestrators like Apache Airflow.
  • Proven experience designing complex SQL/Python pipelines using frameworks like Dataflow or Spark.
  • Deep familiarity with software engineering best practices, including Docker/Kubernetes and CI/CD.
  • Familiarity with monitoring/observability tools like Datadog or New Relic.
  • Track record of guiding teams through the full ML lifecycle (MLOps).
  • Strong communication skills for stakeholder management and cross-functional leadership.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, hire, and coach a team of data engineers and applied data scientists.
  • Partner with cross-functional leaders to translate business needs into technical requirements and prioritize initiatives.
  • Serve as a thought partner on leveraging data, AI, and automation to enhance product experiences.
  • Drive the architecture and delivery of scalable batch and streaming pipelines and productionized ML models.
  • Oversee system orchestration, transformation, and performance troubleshooting.
  • Champion data reliability, governance, privacy, and compliance.
  • Build tools for data cataloging and self-service to democratize data assets.
