Requirements

  • University degree in Translation, Applied Languages, or Linguistic Studies, or an equivalent combination of education and professional experience.
  • Native fluency in Japanese (target language).
  • Fluent in English, both written and spoken.
  • 8+ years of relevant experience in translation, localization, editing, or content writing.
  • 5+ years of review experience.
  • Thorough understanding of the localization process.
  • Excellent knowledge of terminology used in various subject matters.
  • Proficiency with standard CAT tools such as XTM or SDL Studio.
  • Experience with issue tracking and query management tools like JIRA.
  • Excellent user experience with Windows and Office applications.
  • Proven ability to coordinate internal and external translators.
  • Ability to work with tight deadlines and solve practical problems.

Responsibilities

  • Perform copy-edit tasks on assigned projects or accounts.
  • Perform on-demand translation tasks.
  • Perform lead linguist role on assigned accounts.
  • Take ownership of deliveries translated internally or by external partners.
  • Prepare, manage, and maintain language materials including glossaries and style guides.
  • Manage project-related terminology queries.
  • Coordinate with freelancers, agencies, and internal linguists.
  • Test and qualify new freelancers and vendors.
  • Develop and train internal linguists and freelancers.
  • Participate in the development and improvement of working processes.
