Requirements
- Successful completion of the hospice's volunteer training and orientation program.
- Mature individual supportive of the hospice concept, comfortable with spirituality, and willing to serve.
- Ability to work effectively within an interdisciplinary group.
- Must be a licensed driver with an insured, reliable automobile if making home visits.
- Must submit a resume.
- Must provide physical health examination results signed by a primary physician.
- Must provide valid TB spot test or chest X-ray results.
- Must provide proof of COVID-19 vaccination (or hepatitis B documentation as required).
Responsibilities
- Serve as an integral member of the interdisciplinary group in home care, respite, inpatient, bereavement, and administrative settings.
- Participate in general orientation and ongoing volunteer support groups or educational in-services.
- Support patients and family/caregivers under the guidance of the Volunteer Coordinator and Case Manager.
- Perform agreed-upon homemaker chores, errands, and provide respite care.
- Document services provided while maintaining patient confidentiality.
- Report regularly to the Volunteer Coordinator and participate in quality assessment activities.
