Requirements
- Fluency in daily use of AI coding assistants (Claude Code, Copilot, Cursor).
- Proficiency in modern PHP (8.x) with strong OOP and SOLID design judgment.
- Experience delivering in a mainstream PHP framework (e.g., Laminas Mezzio) with Doctrine or another ORM.
- Strong MySQL query optimization skills.
- Experience with REST API design and consumption.
- Experience with automated testing in PHPUnit and a TDD mindset.
- Ability to navigate and incrementally refactor large legacy codebases.
- Strong written communication skills.
- Proven autonomy in a remote-first, agile environment.
- Mindset focused on feature ownership from ticket to production.
Responsibilities
- Design, build, and maintain backend features in our Core Platform (PHP 8.4, Laminas Mezzio, Doctrine, MySQL) and expose them through well-designed REST APIs.
- Use AI coding agents for implementation, test generation, refactoring, and navigating legacy codebases.
- Improve context for AI agents (docs, conventions, tests, tooling) to increase squad delivery speed.
- Review and ensure correctness, design quality, and security of all merged code.
- Manage features from ticket to production, including monitoring, dashboards, and incident triage.
- Contribute to platform modernization through incremental refactoring and legacy component removal.
- Investigate and resolve bugs in collaboration with QA and utilize AI-assisted test automation.
- Collaborate in a remote-first team through code reviews, design discussions, and knowledge sharing.
