Requirements
- Expertise in ecology and evolutionary biology, particularly animal ecology.
- Undergraduate degree, Masters’ degree, PhD, or equivalent practical experience in relevant fields.
- Excellent written English.
- Effective and clear communication skills.
- Keen eye for detail.
- Good organizational and project management skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to network and willingness to source topical content.
- Ability to identify gaps in content and devise new initiatives.
- Desirable: Experience writing for a scientific blog.
- Desirable: Experience with social media, podcasting, or video editing.
Responsibilities
- Commission or write at least 2-3 blog posts per month, including author-led posts, series like 'Cover Stories' or 'Field Diaries', and broader pieces on ecological trends.
- Proofread and edit draft posts for quality, style, and tone.
- Discuss content plans and develop new ideas during quarterly meetings with the Assistant Editor.
- Create promotional copy for social media and actively support social media outreach.
- Promote the journal and blog at relevant conferences, workshops, or meetings as requested.
- Assist with ad-hoc copy-editing of research summaries.
- Optionally conduct author interviews for the journal's YouTube and podcast channels.
