Requirements
- 8+ years of experience in data governance, data platform operations, or data management.
- 3+ years of experience in people leadership or senior technical leadership.
- Demonstrated experience building and scaling enterprise governance programs in cloud environments (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
- Deep knowledge of Snowflake architecture, RBAC design, security policies, and cost controls.
- Strong AWS expertise (S3, IAM, Athena, Spark).
- Enterprise compliance experience with SOX, SOC 2, or equivalent frameworks.
- Understanding of data catalogs and metadata management platforms (e.g., Alation, Collibra).
- Knowledge of modern data platforms like Databricks.
- Familiarity with Snowflake AI/ML capabilities (Cortex, Snowpark ML).
- Experience with platform economics, cost attribution, and ROI measurement.
- Familiarity with Terraform or Infrastructure-as-Code technologies.
Responsibilities
- Define and evolve the enterprise data governance strategy, covering RBAC, compliance frameworks, platform security, cost optimization, and AI/ML governance.
- Own the governance architecture for Snowflake and AWS, ensuring security, compliance, and operational scalability.
- Partner with engineering teams to embed governance capabilities like role-based access, network security, and data masking.
- Establish governance foundations for AI and ML initiatives, including model governance and responsible data-use policies.
- Lead SOX and related compliance activities, including access controls, audit evidence, and segregation-of-duties monitoring.
- Oversee data catalog and metadata governance, ensuring accurate lineage and PII classification.
- Own Snowflake and AWS platform economics, including warehouse sizing, cost attribution, and chargeback models.
- Build, mentor, and scale a high-performing governance engineering team.
