Requirements
- 3+ years of software engineering experience in a production setting.
- BS in Computer Science, a related field, or equivalent work experience.
- Proficiency in one or more backend programming languages (Golang, Python, C++, Java).
- Experience working with databases such as Cassandra, Postgres, or Redis.
- Experience with modern cloud-based infrastructure including Kubernetes, gRPC, and AWS or GCP.
- Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams.
- Prior experience with scaled, high-rate platform services and API design is a plus.
Responsibilities
- Design, write, and deliver software (mostly in Go, sometimes in Python) to improve system availability, scalability, latency, and efficiency.
- Dive deep into the codebase of a suite of Go services and Reddit’s monolith Python legacy stack.
- Implement system-level improvements, enhancements, and complex code modifications.
- Identify and discuss platform gaps to help evolve systems for future growth.
- Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and solicit customer feedback.
- Share on-call responsibilities and support monitoring and alerting.
