Requirements
- Strong understanding of OOP principles and clean code practices
- Experience building custom WordPress themes and plugins
- Strong experience developing custom Gutenberg blocks
- Ability to write maintainable, scalable backend code
- Solid knowledge of the WordPress ecosystem, including hooks & filters, WP REST API, custom post types & taxonomies
- Performance optimisation knowledge for WordPress
- Experience building production ready React applications using functional components, hooks, state management
- Ability to create responsive and reusable UI components
- Experience with MySQL / MariaDB, query optimisation, and caching layers such as Redis and WordPress transients
- Comfortable with Git workflows, deployment pipelines, Docker, Composer, and NPM
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain PHP-based WordPress platforms
- Build and extend custom Gutenberg blocks for editorial and UI experiences
- Develop React-based front-end features and interactive components
- Collaborate on database design, query optimisation, and caching strategies
- Participate in code reviews and contribute to improving engineering standards
- Work closely with product, editorial, and SEO teams to deliver high-quality features
- Contribute to CI/CD pipelines, deployment workflows, and developer tooling
- Help improve performance, scalability, and maintainability across our platforms
