Requirements
- Master's or PhD in microbiology, microbial ecology, bioinformatics, biology, or related field.
- 3+ years of hands-on research experience with microbiome or metagenomics data (publications or industry work).
- Deep expertise in human microbiome/disease, longitudinal interventions, microbial function/metabolism, or environmental ecology.
- Ability to interpret microbiome data and identify confounders, technical artifacts, and experimental limitations.
- Proficiency in Python and/or R for biological data analysis and visualization.
- Familiarity with 16S and/or shotgun metagenomics, including taxonomic, functional, and community-level analysis.
Responsibilities
- Contribute to technical approaches for evaluating AI agent reasoning in microbiome and metagenomics datasets.
- Build ground-truth benchmark datasets derived from real published microbiome studies.
- Rigorously test AI agent performance against analytical and interpretive steps used by expert researchers.
- Define measurement criteria for agent capability in computational microbiology.
- Collaborate with software engineers and computational biologists to refine agent intelligence.
