Requirements

- Extensive experience designing, operating, and scaling distributed OLAP, analytical databases, or serving-layer systems.
- Deep expertise in query optimization, database performance, distributed systems, and large-scale data infrastructure.
- Proven track record in owning data pipeline reliability, production operations, and incident response.
- Demonstrated ability to own complex infrastructure end-to-end from architecture to production.
- Experience independently troubleshooting complex, unfamiliar systems in high-pressure environments.
- Advanced practical fluency with AI-assisted engineering tools such as Claude or Cursor.
- Strong architectural judgment with the ability to evaluate trade-offs in high-stakes environments.
- Excellent communication skills for influencing cross-functional technical direction.
- Demonstrated leadership capabilities through mentorship and improving engineering standards.
Responsibilities
- Lead data infrastructure strategy for distributed serving layers to ensure scalability and reliability.
- Drive database performance optimization using query profiling and AI-assisted tools.
- Build and harden reliable data pipelines supporting government cloud investigations.
- Strengthen infrastructure resilience by reducing single points of failure and improving redundancy.
- Lead production troubleshooting using log analysis and AI-assisted research for rapid fixes.
- Drive operational excellence through on-call rotations, incident management, and retrospectives.
- Deliver complex infrastructure projects from architectural design to deployment and ownership.
- Support government regulatory compliance for data retention, auditing, and security.
- Champion AI-enabled engineering workflows to accelerate development and quality.
- Influence technical direction and mentor engineering teams to raise craftsmanship standards.
