Requirements

  • 7+ years in data engineering and/or analytics engineering.
  • Proven direct people management experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to attract, hire, and scale engineering talent.
  • Track record owning end-to-end data platform architecture.
  • Experience as a product owner for technical platform tools.
  • Deep expertise in cloud data warehouses (e.g., Snowflake).
  • Expertise in orchestration tools (e.g., Airflow) and ingestion tools (e.g., Fivetran).
  • Mastery of dbt, data modeling, and semantic layer design.
  • Practical experience designing RBAC frameworks, PII/PHI tokenization, and masking.
  • Background in a regulated industry (e.g., Fintech, Healthcare, Insurtech) is strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Build and lead a team of Analytics Engineers and Data Engineers, setting technical standards.
  • Drive rapid team scaling to expand the org to 6-8 engineers within a year.
  • Cultivate a culture of engineering rigor, code review, automated testing, and continuous delivery.
  • Own the architecture and strategy for data ingestion, warehouse modeling, and the analytics engineering layer.
  • Design and enforce data governance and security frameworks, including RBAC, PII/PHI handling, and tokenization.
  • Act as product manager for data systems, translating requirements into an actionable roadmap.
  • Define frameworks for decentralized internal application development on Cherry's data surfaces.
