Requirements
- 7+ years in data engineering and/or analytics engineering.
- Proven direct people management experience.
- Demonstrated ability to attract, hire, and scale engineering talent.
- Track record owning end-to-end data platform architecture.
- Experience as a product owner for technical platform tools.
- Deep expertise in cloud data warehouses (e.g., Snowflake).
- Expertise in orchestration tools (e.g., Airflow) and ingestion tools (e.g., Fivetran).
- Mastery of dbt, data modeling, and semantic layer design.
- Practical experience designing RBAC frameworks, PII/PHI tokenization, and masking.
- Background in a regulated industry (e.g., Fintech, Healthcare, Insurtech) is strongly preferred.
Responsibilities
- Build and lead a team of Analytics Engineers and Data Engineers, setting technical standards.
- Drive rapid team scaling to expand the org to 6-8 engineers within a year.
- Cultivate a culture of engineering rigor, code review, automated testing, and continuous delivery.
- Own the architecture and strategy for data ingestion, warehouse modeling, and the analytics engineering layer.
- Design and enforce data governance and security frameworks, including RBAC, PII/PHI handling, and tokenization.
- Act as product manager for data systems, translating requirements into an actionable roadmap.
- Define frameworks for decentralized internal application development on Cherry's data surfaces.
