Requirements
- Bachelor's degree (Master's degree preferred).
- Minimum of seven years of experience in advocacy.
- Experience collaborating with state and local partners to advance goals.
- Ability to communicate effectively with important stakeholders.
- Experience with frequent work travel, including occasional short-notice travel.
- Passion for improving educational opportunities for children.
- Diagnostic mindset, creativity, and the courage to take risks.
- Self-starter capable of thriving in a fast-paced environment.
- Direct advocacy experience working in a statehouse (preferred).
- Expertise in K-12 education policy (preferred).
- Experience with 501(c)(4) and 527 entities, and independent expenditure campaigns (preferred).
- Fundraising and donor relations experience (preferred).
Responsibilities
- Improve state policy environments through collaboration with state associations and partner organizations.
- Lead direct, on-the-ground advocacy efforts to pass pro-charter legislation in priority states.
- Build state association capacity in policy, advocacy, legal, communications, and development.
- Mobilize diverse coalitions to support policy goals.
- Produce tools and resources for state charter school associations.
- Create fundable programming, write progress reports for donors, and manage cross-team deliverables for grants.
- Serve as an expert and go-to person in the sector for public charter school advocacy.
