Requirements
- 7+ years of experience in software, platform, or infrastructure engineering, preferably working with large scale production systems.
- Deep expertise with PostgreSQL in production: performance tuning, replication, backups and recovery, high availability, major version upgrades, and troubleshooting.
- Mastery of AWS or GCP, designing, deploying, and operating production cloud infrastructure.
- Experience with Kubernetes (K8s) cluster operations, stateful workloads, storage, networking, RBAC, and cluster upgrades.
- Strong proficiency in Go, with experience building and maintaining K8s operators and controllers (e.g., Kubebuilder, controller-runtime, Operator SDK).
- Strong Linux systems administration and networking fundamentals (network protocols, load balancing, caching, DNS).
- Experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform preferred).
- Experience with CI/CD and GitOps workflows (Argo CD or Flux).
- Proficiency with logging, monitoring, and alerting tools (Prometheus, Grafana, OpenTelemetry).
- Experience running PostgreSQL on Kubernetes with an operator such as CloudNativePG or Crunchy Postgres is preferred.
Responsibilities
- Deploy, manage, and optimize PostgreSQL clusters on Kubernetes, owning high availability, performance, backups, and disaster recovery.
- Develop, maintain, and enhance Kubernetes operators and controllers in Go to automate database and platform operations.
- Design, build, and operate highly available cloud infrastructure on AWS across multiple accounts and regions.
- Build and maintain Infrastructure as Code with Terraform and automate operational workflows.
- Improve reliability, scalability, and security through monitoring, observability, and proactive capacity planning.
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex production issues across PostgreSQL, Kubernetes, and cloud infrastructure.
- Collaborate with engineering teams to improve developer experience, CI/CD pipelines, and platform automation.
- Define and promote best practices for database operations and mentor engineers.
