Requirements
- 3–7+ years of underwriting, credit analysis, or real estate finance experience.
- Experience in residential construction lending, bridge lending, private credit, or commercial real estate finance.
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Real Estate, Business Administration, or related field.
- Ability to analyze financial statements, tax returns, and project financials.
- Knowledge of residential construction lending, development budgets, LTV, LTC, and interest reserves.
- Ability to evaluate property values, market trends, appraisals, and feasibility studies.
- Demonstrated ability to identify credit risks and evaluate mitigation strategies.
- Proficiency in loan origination systems and Microsoft Excel.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills for presenting to leadership.
- High attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple loan files simultaneously.
- Strong decision-making and professional judgment.
Responsibilities
- Analyze and underwrite residential construction loan originations, including single-family, multifamily, and small apartment complexes.
- Perform collateral cash flow analysis, valuation, and review of borrower financial statements and tax returns.
- Evaluate project viability, liquidity, net worth, and property-specific reports such as inspections and appraisals.
- Prepare and submit loan packages to the Loan Committee via loan origination systems.
- Issue underwriting decisions, document risk factors, and communicate conditions to loan originators and transaction coordinators.
- Manage loan pipelines to ensure compliance with company credit policy and service level expectations.
- Review closing documents and settlement statements for accuracy against approved terms.
