Experience
Minimum two (2) years of southwestern archaeology border project experience preferred

Requirements

  • Degree in Anthropology or a related field.
  • Must be based in Southwestern Arizona.
  • Knowledge of Arizona cultural resources.
  • Archaeological monitoring experience on construction sites.
  • Archaeological survey experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to work remotely with limited supervision.
  • Reliable transportation with a clean driving record.
  • Eligible for federal projects (U.S. citizen with no felonies).
  • Minimum two years of southwestern archaeology border project experience preferred.
  • Meet the Secretary of the Interior’s professional qualifications standards for archaeology preferred.
  • RPA status or eligibility preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Identify and target locations of sensitive cultural resources and mark areas for avoidance and buffer zones.
  • Conduct archaeological monitoring and surveys in accordance with research designs.
  • Prepare daily and weekly cultural resource monitoring summaries, photo-documentation, and maps.
  • Evaluate and record accurate field notes, maps, logs, and other project documentation.
  • Perform quality control of field data on a daily basis.
  • Use electronic and traditional navigational equipment like GPS, iPad, ArcCollector, and Survey 123.
  • Procure and maintain field equipment, technology, and vehicles.
  • Collaborate with other project staff such as environmental monitors and construction crews.
